January 2010 News

We have survived the first decade of the 21st century and will look optimistically ahead to the next one.   April 2010 is the 15th anniversary for our business and in this economic climate we are grateful to still be here and the thanks goes to those of you who continue to support us.

Knitting, spinning and weaving have been around for thousands of years and we plan to keep promoting these fiber arts as the alternative to ready made imported items. Most of us have fond memories of our grandmothers knitting or weaving and wanting to teach us at an early age. As time and the way we do things evolve, it is not your grandmother’s knitting and crocheting anymore. With so many new yarns and updated patterns the choices are unlimited. Our shelves are stocked with beautiful textures and colors. So stop by to check things out and become a part of the new era of ‘chicks with sticks’.

Hats Program:  The success of this program has been phenomenal. Over 100 volunteers donated yarn and cash but mainly their talents to provide 1710 hand made pieces (hats and scarves) during 2009. From this effort we were able to distribute to the Caps for Kids Program, St. Vincent DePaul, The Salvation Army, The Gospel Missions and a few shelters in Jackson, Josephine & Curry Counties. This program will continue throughout 2010 and if you are not already involved please give consideration to participating. And again, thank you so much for your continued generosity.
